A classic train journey to savour

There are only two trains a day leaving Bangkok to Aranyaprathet the final stop for the Cambodian
Border 1st train leaves at 05-55 arriving at 11-35 the second train leaves at 13-05 arriving at 17-35
Thai people travel Free anyone else virtually free June 2016 It was 45baht.
The  windows remain open except during rainfall so there is an abundance of fresh air If you don't
want the wind blowing through your hair sit on the seat opposite to the direction of travel.
There are plenty of opportunities  to buy extra refreshments from people walking through the train
                                                         they sell food also.
With the ongoing modernisation of Thailands railways, I wonder how long this particular service will
continue to operate,It is popular among school children either traveling to school on the early train
and returning home again on the later train traveling back to Bankok later in the day.
The seating is very basic and firm but still quite comfortable, but you get a good chance to see the
Thailand countryside and many communities as you pass through which is enjoyable.

When you arrive in Aranyaprathet there are plenty of tuk-tuk's waiting to take you to your destination
If  you're heading to the border the charge is around 80 Bht  If you are going  forward through
immigration make it clear to the tuk-tuk driver that you want to go straight to the border.
there are so many people wanting to help you but if you want to save money it's important to
go through Thai Immigration and then forward to Cambodia immigration ignoring the many that
try to send you elsewhere applying for a Cambodian e-visa online can save you time at the border
.
There is quite a big market on the Thai side of the border which is very popular,a lot of the goods
for sale are from Cambodia and it is possible to get a bargain,a lot of buyers travel from Bangkok
to purchase from here and re-sell in Bangkok.

If  you want to stay in Aranyaprathet there are many low-cost hotels 365 Bht/night depending
on what standard you need they are clean and self-contained ,would be better to check them out
rather than be disappointed later, there is more choice among higher standard hotels nearby also

Depending on your plans there is a train leaving Aranyaprathet to Bangkok around 6.30 and1 30pm
better to check the times. There is a bus service starting earlier and takes less time traveling,.about
4 hours.I enjoyed the experience of traveling on the train which is what it is an experience-  enjoy !
